On its 35th anniversary, Spike Lee’s landmark movie on racial tensions Do the Right Thing remains as potent and relevant as ever. Set over a single hot summer day in a Brooklyn neighbourhood, it presents a collage of multi-ethnic characters and their various simmering racial or culturally-based aggressions brushing up against one another. One of the defining movies of its era, it stars an ensemble cast including Spike Lee, Danny Aiello, Giancarlo Esposito, John Turturro, and Rosie Perez.
Showtime begins at 6:00, with discussion afterwards at about 8:00 pm.
Admission is free. No food or drink permitted in the Library Theatre.
