Movie: Summer of Soul

Directed by Amir “Questlove” Thompson, Summer of Soul is a remastered record of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival assembled from footage thought to have been lost for decades. Interspersed with commentary from people who were there and snippets of the political context against which it was set, it is an astonishing work of cultural preservation that resurrects what was for many people of colour a seminal event.

Showtime begins at 6:00 pm.
