Come to Movie Club at the Moose Jaw Library Monday, January 8th at 6 for The Apartment, Billy Wilder’s classic romantic-comedy from 1960 about an office drone whose only means of climbing the corporate ladder is by lending out his apartment for the illicit affairs of his managers, and who ultimately finds himself falling for the building’s elevator operator -herself engaged in emotionally exploitative liaisons with the company boss. Severe and melancholy at times, but a charmingly sweet, funny movie nonetheless; and winner of five Academy Awards including Best Picture and Director. Stars Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, and Fred MacMurray. Showtime is at 6:00 in the Library theatre, with a discussion afterwards at about 8:00 for anyone who wishes to stay and partake.
